TEHRAN -- Iran intends to eventually produce enough cell phones to meet domestic needs and sell them in the global market, the managing director of the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO) of Iran said here on Monday.

Negotiations are still underway with mobile phone manufacturers to launch production lines in Iran but talks thus far have had good results, Mehdi Mofidi explained.

A good manufacturing company should market the assembled products in other countries, he added.

A production line for manufacturing LG mobile phones has been launched at the MADIRAN industrial factory, Mofidi noted.
